At the turn of the year, to seek good fortune, the main door is commonly called the “Fortune Gate” in China. The “Encyclopedia of Chinese National Customs” describes many traditional practices in Chinese history, with the most common being “Welcoming Wealth.” In various regions, the custom of “opening the door to welcome wealth, closing the door to keep wealth” prevails. The ancient Chinese craftsman deity, Lu Ban, passed down the “Lu Ban ruler,” which is highly sought after, and the idea of the “Fortune Gate” has been widely spread.
In 2013, Mr. Huang Shaoan, the founder of Fortune Gate, decided to make his mark in the Chinese retractable sliding door industry. “A good name is half the success,” so the first challenge was to give his new company a name that resonated. After a month of deep thought, by chance, a segment on TV played during the New Year celebrations, as families reunited and with the sound of firecrackers, everyone—young and old—cheerfully shouted, “Open the Fortune Gate!” From that moment, Fortune Gate was born.
